What an opportunity! Imagine spending two days with Thomas Lie-Nielsen and Christopher Schwarz. Thomas is the man whose name is on some of the best hand planes made in the world. Christopher is the editor of Popular Woodworking magazine and one of the best hand tool guys in America. Together they will share their vast knowledge on hand planes and scrapers and define the differences between the vast assortments of plane types. Students will learn which planes will work best for the type of job at hand. Both conventional and low-angle tools will be covered. There will be discussions on the correct way to set up your planes to get maximum performance, as well as how to use, sharpen, and care for them. Obviously the primary focus will be with Lie-Nielsen tools, but both Thomas and Christopher will both be happy to discuss how to tune up all other makes of planes. Make sure to bring all your Lie-Nielsen tools; it's your chance to have Thomas Lie-Nielsen himself sign them. Think of the added value. Key points: learn how those wonderful planes are made; tuning techniques; types and uses of each plane; sharpening and flattening; how to correctly use a plane for the best results.
