By Hand & Eye Design with George Walker

The EYE part of this workshop is all about honing your judgment and trusting your gut. The HAND part is about putting all this to work so it becomes second nature. Most of us know when a design pleases, but find it hard to explain why. Or we sense that something’s off, but can’t quite put our finger on it. This workshop will change the way you see and build furniture. Students will learn the “why” behind good design and then learn ways to make it practical. The aim is to equip you with a working foundation in proportions and form. Students will learn to unpack masterworks and unlock the structure hidden within as well as learn drawing techniques to grasp how proportions work to tie a design together. Peppered throughout will be practical layout exercises to help bring the lessons to life at the workbench. Expect to leave this workshop with a whole new outlook on design and the skills to take you even higher.
