About This Workshop
In this intermediate flameworking class, students we’ll learn to sculpt and blow a variety of forms at the torch using heat, gravity and centrifugal force. Day one will begin with basic instruction and practice blowing even glass bubbles at the torch and creating beautiful glass vessels and perfume bottles. On day two students will learn to pull perfectly straight stringer punties and avolios and focus on creating the foot of a goblet. On day three the class will focus on goblet cups, bud vases and flower bowls. On day four students will explore a variety of goblet stem designs while continuing to fine tune their glassblowing skills. On day five students will bring all of the pieces together creating structurally sound, finished goblets.
This class uses 104COE glass.
Intermediate skill level – students must be comfortable working with glass at the torch on their own and be capable of creating symmetrically round beads and/or pendants. If you are unsure of your skill level, please send some pictures of your glass creations to leah@nietz.com.
